Yente

Yente
Yente f
Jewish: Yiddish name, probably a back-formation from Yentl (apparently from the French nickname Gentille ‘kind, nice’), the -l being interpreted as a Yiddish hypocoristic suffix. The Yiddish vocabulary word yente, derived from the name, denotes a gossipy woman.
